MATERIALS
WHAT DOES GOLD PLATED MEAN
Gold plated jewellery is achieved by using a thin layer of gold applied on their surface. The base material of jewellery often varies between different metals such as stainless steel, sterling silver or brass.
PVD
Physical Vapour Deposition (PVD) or Ion Plating, are used to create gold plated jewellery as well. In these methods, gold particles are evaporated in a vacuum chamber and deposited onto the surface of the jewellery piece. PVD plating creates a durable and adherent gold layer that can be thicker than traditional electroplating, providing increased longevity.
GOLD VERMEIL
Gold vermeil refers to a jewellery piece made of sterling silver that has been coated with a thick layer of gold, creating a luxurious and durable gold plated finish.
